MARTHA BEAUMONT

ABOUT MARTHA BEAUMONT

Martha’s work is about perception. She’s interested in the tussle between imagination and reality, between the flat image and expansive space. For her, the desert evokes associations of escape and solitude, as well as isolation and fear. Her work investigates the contrast between physically being there and images of the landscape. Her process spans drawing, painting, installation and staged photography. In her most recent work, she is exploring ideas around colour theory and censorship. She’s interested in how these geometric forms affect our sense of perspective and alter the sense of space they inhabit. Blending geometric form with vast expanses of nature, she tries to impose a sense of order.
